Event Details

Cleveland Play House's Script Club is everything you love about a book club - but with a play in the spotlight! In partnership with Facing History and Ourselves, CPH presents a special "Book-to-Script Club" event. First check out the novel at the Medina Reference Desk and read it at home. Then join CPH Artistic Staff at the library for a free-flowing exploration of the process of turning the novel into a music-filled one-person show. In this novel author Mona Golabeck -- renowned pianist, performer and star of CPH's The Pianist of Willesden Lane, tells her mother's true tale of survival and triumph. At age 14, pianist Lisa Jura was separated from everything and everyone she knew and loved when she was placed on a Kindertransport train. This deeply moving story, infused with hope and the life-affirming power of music, will explore both the history and legacy of the Holocaust and Kindertransport.
